On my hunt for a Beauty Light Ring I saw prices ranging from $50 to $800 depending on the size of the light and the manufacture. Not wanting to spend that much, I wanted to see if I could make my own cheaper? Yes I could and yes I did!! Be sure to watch the full tutorial in the video below.
Tools Needed: Scissors or Snippers (Small Wire Cutter)
1. Metal Wreath Ring from the Dollar Tree $1
3. Paper Towel Holder from Wal-Mart $2.34
Alternative base option:
Universal Smart Phone Holder from
Five Below $5
and secure with a zip tie.
Step 3. Start the second row right above the first row and
secure with a zip tie.
Step 4. Continue wrapping your LED rope light around your
wreath ring, remembering to secure with a zip tie at each brace point.
Note: Repeat steps 3
and 4 until you reach the end of your rope light.
Step 5. Once you've reach the end of your rope light, insert
the power end in-between the last two
metal rings of your wreath ring and
secure with a zip tie.
Note: I secured the
power end with 2 zip ties
Step 6. Make sure all your zip ties are secured and snug.
Step 7. Take a pair of scissor or in my case snippers and
cut the excess from all your zip ties.
(Optional) Step 8: Attach paper towel holder to the back of
your wreath ring using zip ties.
Note: There are many
other base options out there. This is one of the ones I have chosen to do for
this tutorial. I have added another option towards the end of this video.
Step 10. Attach power cord to the power end of your LED rope
light.
Another option I added after filming this tutorial
(Optional) Step 11. Attach the Clip-On Grip of the Universal
phone holder to what would be the inner bottom of your Light Ring with a zip
tie. Then wrap the flexible gooseneck around the back of ring and secure with
more zip ties.
Total cost of project using the paper towel holder base $17.22 before tax
Total cost of project using the Universal Phone Holder $19.88 before tax
In the end I decided to use both
MY total for my 14 1/4" DIY Beauty Light Ring was $22.22 before tax
That's still almost half the cost of the cheapest ones I found!
